Parents group warns of Chinese Communist Party influence in American K-12 schools

A Chinese Communist Party-sponsored program remains active in several schools throughout the United States, according to a national grassroots organization dedicated to defending parental rights in the classroom.

In a Wednesday report titled “Little Red Classrooms” submitted to policymakers nationwide, Parents Defending Education highlighted contracts detailing Chinese government-backed programs known as Confucius Institutes and its K-12 programming, Confucius Classrooms.

PDE contends these centers teach Chinese language and culture, establishing a connection between American K-12 schools, universities and the Chinese Communist Party.

“Further research reveals the People’s Republic of China fostered relationships with American K-12 schools through grants, sister school partnerships, and other programming since at least 2009,” the statement reads.

California State University, Fresno professor Randa Jarrar  demands white editors ‘resign’ from ‘positions of power

An English professor is demanding that “white editors resign,” saying they should “hand over the positions of power” because merely holding such positions is “f**k up enough.”

California State University, Fresno professor Randa Jarrar, who previously made headlines for giddily celebrating the death of Barbara Bush, made the provocative declaration Tuesday in a tweet responding to controversy surrounding an allegedly racist poem.

“At some point, all of us in the literary community must DEMAND that white editors resign. It’s time to STEP DOWN and hand over the positions of power. We don’t have to wait for them to f**k up. The fact that they hold these positions is f**k up enough.”

Jarrar’s outrage appears to have been sparked by a recent controversy about a poem published in The Nation that has been called insensitive to minorities and the disabled community.

The poem, “How-To” by Anders Carlson-Wee, includes the lines “Don’t say homeless, they know / you is” and “If you’re crippled don’t / flaunt it. Let em think they’re good enough / Christians to notice.”

[RELATED: Prof avoids punishment for mocking death of Barbara Bush]

Jarrar has called for the specific resignation of Stephanie Burt, a poetry editor for The Nation, tweeting that Burt “erases and violently silences [people of color].”

“Stephanie has said some hurtful shit about George W Bush and has hurt Arab American poets in my community,” Jarrar claims. “I ask that she resign.”

Burt has not resigned, but she did publish an apology along with Carmen Gimenez Smith, another Nation poetry editor, on Smith’s Twitter account.

“As poetry editors, we hold ourselves responsible for the ways in which the work we select is received,” the apology stated. “We made a serious mistake by choosing to publish the poem ‘How-To.’”

“When we read the poem we took it as a profane, over-the-top attack on the ways in which members of many groups are asked, or required, to perform the work of marginalization,” the apology added. “We can no longer read the poem in that way.”

The apology doesn’t seem to be good enough for Jarrar, who replied “resign” to the apology tweet.

Although Jarrar made her Twitter account private shortly after receiving criticism for mocking former First Lady Barbara Bush’s death, copies of her recent tweets were obtained by Campus Reform.

“Barbara Bush was a generous and smart and amazing racist who, along with her husband, raised a war criminal,” Jarrar posted in April. “F*** outta here with your nice words.”

“I’m happy the witch is dead,” Jarrar added in a later tweet. “Can’t wait for the rest of her family to fall to their demise the way 1.5 million iraqis have. byyyeeeeeeee.”

Jarrar later added that she would “never be fired” due to her tenured position. This statement sparked an online petition calling Fresno State to fire Jarrar. The still-active petition has been signed by nearly 90,000 people at time of publishing.

A spokesperson for Fresno State told Campus Reform that the school does not comment on the personal opinions of faculty, but did add that “in this instance, the view expressed does not reflect those of the University.”

Campus Reform reached out to Jarrar for comment on her latest tweet, but has not received a response.

Mercedes Carrera Trial Postponed Again

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — The criminal trial of Mercedes Carrera and her husband on multiple child sexual abuse charges, which had last been scheduled to begin on July 17, has been postponed again.

At a hearing Tuesday, Judge Katrina West reset the pretrial date to August 8.

A pretrial hearing for the case was in July 2022, with an Oct. 3, 2022 date agreed upon for the beginning of the jury trial. Since then, however, the trial date has been repeatedly vacated and postponed.

Carrera and her husband, Jason Whitney, were arrested after a police raid of their Rancho Cucamonga home on Feb. 1, 2019.

By the new pretrial date, they will have been in the county jail awaiting trial for four and half years, held initially without bail and later, after they had liquidated their assets and had no source of income due to their incarceration, with bail set at $2 million for each.

Earlier this month, two different YouTube channels published audio recordings purporting to be recent interviews with Carrera taped via phone from the West Valley Corrections Center.

During these interviews, Carrera expresses frustration with the conditions of her imprisonment and the handling of her case by the arresting officers, and questions some of the decisions made by her own legal counsel, who was appointed for her by the state.

Defeating Adventism #5 – The Commands of Jesus and the 10 Commandments

This is the fifth video in the series of Defeating Adventism. This video follows the first four which exposed the false Gospel of the Adventist church and compares its message to the Bible and the true Gospel. This video defeats a common Adventist and Sabbatarian argument that John 14:15 is Jesus advocating the 10 Commandments. Using John 14:15 as Bible proof that Jesus advocates the 10 Commandments is a mis-application of the Word of God., which Adventists do routinely.

Fake Study By Academics at the University of Sydney claims bisexual men more masculine than straight men

Academics at the University of Sydney compared the voices of gay, straight and bisexual men in a study involving 160 people.

In a study led by clinical psychologist James Morandini, people were recruited to analyze the voices of 60 men, 20 of whom were gay, 20 straight and 20 bisexual. They were then asked to rate the men on their sexual orientation using a scale from zero (exclusively heterosexual) to 10 (exclusively homosexual).

Listeners were also asked to rate each man’s perceived level of femininity or masculinity in the voices on a similar scale.

The men involved in the study were asked to record themselves on a smartphone reciting the first two lines of the Australian national anthem.

Voice samples were then modified to remove any background noise while volume levels were made the same to ensure consistency.

Results from the study show listeners could distinguish between gay and straight men’s voices with an accuracy of 62 per cent, apparently consistent with previous research.

However, the study participants could not determine any differences between bisexual and straight men’s voices with any degree of accuracy.

Authors say their research shows bisexual men’s voices were perceived as being more exclusively attracted to women compared to both gay and straight men’s voices.

Bisexual men’s voices were rated as more masculine than both gay and straight men’s voices.

Researchers claimed the ability to identify a man’s bisexual identity from his voice alone could have critical social implications such as helping to reduce feelings of alienation.

Arab-Islamic Racism: Lawsuit Filed against Philadelphia Islamist School, Alleging ‘Overt’ Anti-Black Racism

A teacher fired from Philadelphia’s Al-Aqsa Islamic Academy has filed a civil suit against the school and its principal, alleging extraordinary anti-black racism at the school.

Arslan Shaikh served as a “general studies” teacher with Al-Aqsa Islamic Academy from August 2020 to April 28, 2023. In his filed complaint, he alleges, throughout his time at the school, he observed “disproportionate allocation of discipline and removal of black children relative to their non-black counterparts.”

Moreover, Shaikh claims that a report he wrote, documenting racist comments aimed at black students by other students, was “edited … to omit [mention of] the overt racism.”

He also alleges that “non-black children were given privileges denied to black children. On one occasion, several non-black students received failing grades. These grades were then changed to ‘passing’ by Defendants. In the three years that Plaintiff taught at Al-Aqsa, he never saw this benefit conferred to black children.”

On April 27, 2023, Shaikh claims that during a conversation with the school principal, Shireen Hammoudeh, he was informed of a complaint lodged against him by students. Principal Hammoudeh reportedly told Shaikh that the complaint was only filed because “they’re black and are trying to manufacture a lawsuit.” She allegedly promised to “find a reason to get rid of [the black students].”

Shaikh informed other administration members at the school about the “display of overt racism,” only to be fired a few hours later.

The school’s 2019 “parent-student handbook” declares that Western culture is “toxic to Muslims.” And the uniform guides for the school require that female students be completely covered.

The Al-Aqsa Islamic Academy is part of the Al-Aqsa Islamic Society, a prominent Islamist mosque in downtown Philadelphia, closely involved with hardline national Islamist groups.

In 2019, radical imam Abdelmohsen Abouhatab spoke at the mosque, declaring “jews” to be “the vilest people in terms of their moral values, their nature, and their violation of agreements.”

In a previous sermon at the mosque, Abouhatab said of the Jews: “The propaganda and the media are controlled by them. They make you see things in an altered and inflated way. They make you think that power lies in castles, fortresses, and weapons – that power lies with 15 million people who own and control the riches of the world.”

The mosque has run multiple radical events, such as claims that only “Islamophobia” is driving the “war on terror.” One particular event was addressed by Islamist activist Maha Hilal, then-head of the Coalition for Civil Freedoms (CCF). The Middle East Forum’s Benjamin Baird notes that CCF is “an Islamist activist group founded by a convicted terrorist that functions as a de facto ‘martyrs fund’ for American jihadists and their families.”

Mercedes Carrera Trial Postponed Again

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — The criminal trial of Mercedes Carrera and her husband on multiple child sexual abuse charges which had been scheduled to begin last Monday has been postponed again.

Judge Katrina West has now scheduled a new trial readiness date for Tuesday.

A pretrial hearing for the case was held a year ago, with an Oct. 3, 2022 date agreed upon for the beginning of the jury trial. Since then, however, the trial date has been repeatedly vacated and postponed.

Professors at San Diego State University and Loyola Marymount University Claims Math is racist

A new program promoted by the Oregon Department of Education is designed to “dismantle” instances of “white supremacy culture in the mathematics classroom.”

Professors at San Diego State University and Loyola Marymount University assisted in creating the program.

An Oregon Department of Education newsletter from February promoted an online course designed to “dismantle” instances of “white supremacy culture in the mathematics classroom.”  One example of “white supremacy” highlighted by the course was “the concept of mathematics being purely objective,” an idea which the resource stated is “is unequivocally false.”

The program, known as “A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction,” describes itself as “an integrated approach to mathematics that centers Black, Latinx, and Multilingual students” that provides “opportunities for ongoing self-reflection as they seek to develop an anti-racist math practice.”

The “feedback advisors” for a portion of the program include William Zahner, who is an associate professor at San Diego State University; Melissa Navarro Martell, who is an assistant professor at San Diego State University, and Elvira Armas, who is the Director of Programs and Partnerships for the Center for Equity for English Learners at Loyola Marymount University in California.

“White supremacy culture infiltrates math classrooms in everyday teacher actions,” the guide states. “Coupled with the beliefs that underlie these actions, they perpetuate educational harm on Black, Latinx, and multilingual students, denying them full access to the world of mathematics.”

The newsletter pitched the program to educators “looking for a deeper dive into equity work,” offering to teach “key tools for engagement, develop strategies to improve equitable outcomes for Black, Latinx, and multilingual students, and join communities of practice.”

The Oregon Department of Communications Director of Communications, Marc Siegel, told Campus Reform that math instruction should be built on an “equitable foundation.”

“Building math instruction on an equitable foundation can better ensure all our students have a pathway to success in math,” Siegel said.

[RELATED: Math education prof: 2+2 = 4 ‘trope’ ‘reeks of white supremacy patriarchy’]

Examples of “white supremacy culture” cited by the document include a focus on “getting the ‘right’ answer” and requiring students to show their work.

Glenn Ricketts, Public Affairs Director for the National Association of Scholars, told Campus Reform that the course illustrates that “no aspect of the educational process at any level is off limits for the social justice indoctrination.”

“Mathematics was once considered immune: after all, doesn’t 2 + 2 = 4?” Ricketts said. “But as I have read recently, the problem that math and arithmetic insist on correct answers is actually a hidden form of ‘white supremacy,’ as everything else is as well.”

The authors of the program state that “The concept of mathematics being purely objective is unequivocally false, and teaching it is even much less so. Upholding the idea that there are always right and wrong answers perpetuate objectivity as well as fear of open conflict.”

The materials also instruct teachers to “Choose problems that have complex, competing, or multiple answers” so that students can come up with “at least two answers” in order to “challenge standardized test questions…”

[RELATED: Ivy League schools drop ‘culturally biased’ standardized test requirement]

“Often the emphasis is placed on learning math in the ‘real world,’” the toolkit asserts, “as if our classrooms are not a part of the real world. This reinforces notions of either/or thinking because math is only seen as useful when it is in a particular context. However, this can result in using mathematics to uphold capitalist and imperialist ways of being and understandings of the world.”

The course challenges teachers to “center ethnomathematics,” which includes recognizing how communities of color engage in mathematics and exposing students to “examples of people who have used math as resistance.”

“ODE stands behind the value that high-quality, rigorous mathematics instruction must be prioritized for every student in Oregon,” Siegal said. “These goals are shared by many of our professional education partners across the state. The training opportunity shared in the Math Educator Update reminds teachers what we know is true in teaching all students: that high expectations, high-quality content, and strong relationships with students and families lead to substantive increases in student achievement.”

According to the project glossary, the authors cite critical race theorists like Ibram Kendi and Robin DiAngelo for definitions of terms like “Antiracist” and “Whiteness.” Throughout the document, teachers are encouraged to incorporate “antiracist” math education into their classrooms.

National Association of Scholars Director of Research David Randall also condemned the program, saying that “the teaching of such ideologies as Critical Race Theory or so-called Anti-Racism” is an intrusion of “totalitarian ideology into the classroom” and a “crippling waste of classroom time that will leave all students less knowledgeable.”

[RELATED: 2+2=5? Bill Gates funnels $1 MILLION to push ‘math is racist’ narrative]

“None of these should be in any aspect of education, as they will produce a generation indoctrinated and ignorant,” Randall said. “The most dangerous aspects are requirements to teach such materials–K-12 requirements imposed by state education departments, departmental and university course requirements, and education school graduation requirements. But the voluntary choice of teachers to use such materials is nearly as damaging.”

Randall argued that the Oregon curriculum is only the most recent expression of a long-term trend.

“When NAS was founded back in 1987, the problem of politicized curricula was largely confined to college courses, and we thought that it was a serious problem then,” Randall explained. “But things have worsened considerably since those distant beginnings and, as a result of the relentless emphasis on ‘social justice’ many students now come to college already indoctrinated, with all of the ‘right’ answers.”

“As for preparation in the professions,” Randall added, “I think the only thing the kinds of courses we’ve been discussing here qualify one for is social activism and an inflated sense of his own importance. It certainly won’t prepare anyone for engineering, foreign language competence or systematic thinking.”

Siegel told Campus Reform that the materials are “an optional professional learning tool for educators looking to better engage students and improve outcomes for students of color and multilingual learners.”

“Cultural context is helpful for all of our students in learning. Not all tools provided by A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction may make sense for each individual school; the content is simply to generate new ideas for engagement and strategies for educators,” Siegel said.

Neighbour trapped mother and daughters in Nottingham flat fire, trial hears

A mother and her two young daughters were murdered by a neighbour who set their flat on fire over a row about rubbish bags being left behind their building, a court has heard.

The prosecution said the defendant, Jamie Barrow, “walked casually away” despite screams being heard from inside the flat.

Nottingham crown court was told Barrow, 31, poured petrol through the letterbox of Fatoumatta Hydara’s first-floor property in the early hours of 20 November last year, before setting it alight and staying while the blaze took hold. He denies three counts of murder.

Hydara, 28, died two days after the incident. Her daughters Fatimah Drammeh, three, and Naeemah Drammeh, one, were both killed in the fire in Fairisle Close in Clifton, Nottingham.

urors were told Barrow had raised a “grievance” with the local authority around a month before the blaze, but the prosecutor, Simon Ash KC, said it was not accepted that Hydara had been leaving rubbish in the alleyway.

Opening the case to a packed public gallery on Monday, Ash said the defendant had admitted starting the fire but denied murder.

He said: “He killed a woman called Fatoumatta Hydara, and he killed her two daughters Fatimah Drammeh and Naeemah Drammeh. The defendant killed them by setting fire to their flat in the early hours of the morning on 20 November last year.”

Ash said Hydara and her two children were asleep in the flat when the fire was started. “He poured petrol through their letterbox and he set it alight. The defendant knew that the front door was the only way in and out of the flat. He knew that there would be no way for them to escape.”

Ash told the jury that Barrow stayed as the blaze took hold and that a fire alarm sounded after it started.

He said: “Shortly after [the alarm], Mrs Hydara or one of the children started screaming. The defendant did nothing to help them. He didn’t call the fire service or alert anyone to what was happening. About five minutes later, he walked casually away, leaving Mrs Hydara and Fatimah and Naeemah trapped in the burning flat.

“All three of them died as a result of the fire.”

Ash said that before setting the flat alight, Barrow had walked past the property while a light was on inside as he was on his way to buy some beer. “There would have been some light coming from her flat and the light would have been further indication to the defendant that Hydara and the children were in the flat at the time.”

Barrow also denies arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered.
