‘White Privilege’ lesson in Wisconsin high school draws national attention

a white parent is upset because a school decides to teach the kids the whole truth about white privilege and institutionalized white racism in American Society. kids of white parents like this are the ones that go on twitter calling for hate crimes  and death threats against Asians after they see a movie about Asian communists taking over America, go to college and throw balloons filled with bleach at black Asian and Latino kids on college campuses, commit other hate crimes against non-white kids on campus while university/college officials look the other way. go into the tv and movie business and incite racism against Asians and other minorities which lead to hate crimes. call black women reporters on tv who have thier natural hair poor and dress in rags etc

National attention has been drawn to a Wisconsin high school’s “American Diversity” course after one parent alleged that students are being taught white people are oppressors of minorities, reports Fox News.

One parent of a Delavan-Darien High School student spoke to Fox News.

“They’re teaching white guilt.  They’re dividing the students,” this parent told said.  ”They’re saying to non-whites, ‘You have been oppressed and you’re still being oppressed.’”

The parent, who requested to remain anonymous, claims she became alarmed by the content on some handouts that her 18-year-old son brought home from school.

A class handout defines “white privilege” as:

A set of advantages that are believed to be enjoyed by white people beyond those commonly experienced by non-white people in the same social, political, and economic spaces (nation, community, workplace, income, etc.)

Students were also instructed to visit the toy section of a local Wal-Mart, where they were to count the number of white dolls versus the number of black dolls.

School district superintendent, Robert Crist told Fox that “a lot of red flags go u in my mind when I look at the materials.  Her concern has merit.”

“Ideally, you would want to present one theory that might be way on the left and another theory that may be way on the right and if you find one in the middle you can present that, too,” he continued. “Now you have a well-rounded discussion in my opinion.”

Crist noted that the course has been suspended, while it is under review.

Unarmed and dangerous?

Columbus, Ohio – In 2005, when Florida was considering its insane stand-your-ground-or-perhaps-chase-down-an-innocent-black-teenager-and-shoot-him law, state senator Dan Gelber was a voice of reason. Gelber, when asked what he thought of legislation that would transmogrify many a heat-packing Floridian into a juiced-up Judge Dredd, posed some questions of his own.

When you think someone “looks at your wife” the wrong way or “spills coffee on you”, should the message be “to walk away, or do we tell them that you’re supposed to stand your ground and fight to the death?” According to NRA troll/super-lobbyist Marion Hammer, the supposedly smart Bush who was governor at the time (Jeb) and state senator Dennis Baxley – a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans who likes racial slurs in state songs and wants to remember the great Lost Cause on licence plates – the answer was, of course, shoot – to kill.

But the bigger story here is the alliance of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) – a secretive, corporate-sponsored clearinghouse for ideas that are dopey enough to be purchased by the pound – and the National Rifle Association (NRA). It’s a marriage made in Hades to pass legislation that seemingly anyone with any background in law enforcement or understanding of this nation’s history knew would lead to a predictable outcome: “racially motivated killings”.

Because, you see, this is not a bug, but a feature. Both ALEC and the NRA exist to support the whims and wants of privileged and largely white members of society, while disenfranchising, impoverishing and even allowing people like 17-year-old Trayvon Martin – who was shot and killed last month by George Zimmerman, a neighbourhood watch volunteer – to be gunned down in cold blood. Racism is at their very core.

ALEC is behind a nationwide push to take voting rights away from African Americans and any other group that doesn’t largely vote for creepily religious, corporate Republicans advocating wish-list items such as a creationist, Halliburton-constructed lunar colony or the deregulation of melamine and morphine-based infant formula.

As writer Ari Berman pointed out in a piece called “The GOP’s War On Voting“, there has been “a systematic campaign orchestrated by the American Legislative Exchange Council – and funded in part by David and Charles Koch, the billionaire brothers who bankrolled the Tea Party – 38 states… this year designed to impede voters at every step of the electoral process”. Who are we talking about here? “Millions of students, minorities, immigrants, ex-convicts and the elderly,” according to Berman, or people you might hesitate to call the “Santorum demographic”.

These very same ALECites have been (coincidentally, of course), pushing for tort reform bills in states throughout the country, which have been proven again and again to disproportionately hurt the poor and minorities while protecting corporate bottom lines. Meanwhile, “racial issues” and stereotyping have been used by ALEC to push for tort reform, the very same play on white fear that is the pitch of the NRA to convince anyone, no matter how unstable or criminally inclined, to buy more guns.

Part of this pitch has used the first black President (“Communist-trained!”) to inform their most ardent and paranoid members of secret plots (“massive Obama conspiracy!”) to take away their guns (the ones they can now take into national parks and in luggage on Amtrak, because of bills President Obama signed into law). Their day-to-day coded language about protecting “your way of life” or property from invading hordes has obvious connotations to anyone with a few neurons still firing.

Meanwhile, the NRA’s Board of Directors is filled with people who have made troubling comments on race. There’s intellectual wretch Ted Nugent, who has problems with the “Dark Continent” of Africa because no country there “truly respects freedom or the rule of law”. Then there’s Wayne Anthony Ross, who published an editorial saying an art student who made a statue of a Ku Klux Klan figure deserved an “‘A’ for courage”.

And in September 2011, NRA board member John Sigler spoke at a rally hosted by radio personality Bill Colley, who three days earlier had accused President Obama’s mother of travelling the world “to meet up with ‘savages’ and civilising them in the sack! Her efforts even created a President of the United States”.

These are not the exception, as the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence has made abundantly clear on their “Who Is The NRA Leadership” website.

Nor is Trayvon Martin the exception. He is the rule: collateral damage of a quite open and obvious agenda for anyone willing to take a look.

London, Ont. rocked by St. Patrick’s Day riot near Fanshawe College

mostly privileged drunk whites rioting for fun!

Beer bottles, bricks and other debris rained down on police and firefighters in London, Ont., Saturday when St. Patrick’s Day celebrations turned ugly.

London police Chief Bradley Duncan, speaking to reporters Sunday, said he had never seen the level of violence and vandalism that he did Saturday night in his more than three decades on the police force.

“Last night, London experienced the worst case of civil disobedience our community has ever been subjected to,” Duncan said.

He said there was a very real risk that people could have been seriously injured, and even killed, after partygoers turned to setting fires and throwing bottles, stones and two-by-fours at police and firefighters.

Burns and other “soft tissue” injuries were instead reported, according to the chief.

Seven people were arrested Saturday in connection with the rioting, which caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the street and vehicles.

Duncan urged anyone else involved in the drunken mob should “do the right thing” and turn themselves into police.

The area where the rioting took place is teeming with students who attend nearby Fanshawe College.

Duncan said the street parties were expected, but spiralled out of control after police and the fire department were called about a brush fire around 10 p.m.

“London Fire Department (arrived) and were almost immediately confronted with numerous persons throwing bottles and bricks at the firefighters and fire vehicles,” Duncan said.

Police then had be brought in, with reinforcements, to escort the firefighters out of the area and they too were met with violence from the mob, the chief said.

Police then had to don their helmets to prevent injury from the flying bottles and other debris.

According to Duncan, about 1,000 people were in the crowd Sunday and police had to attend to the scene until the wee hours of the morning.

“Police vehicles were pounded with two-by-fours, bricks, tire rims and other various items,” Duncan told reporters, resulting in 17 police vehicles being damaged.

“Smoke canisters” were needed to clear out part of the crowd, just so police vehicles could retreat from the area, he added.

By 11 p.m., police declared the gathering an “unlawful assembly” and told the now-rioters to disperse — orders that had little effect, despite repeated warnings.

All of the police cars and other vehicles were removed from the area, but rioters were able to flip a CTV News van and set it on fire. A video posted to YouTube shows the truck ablaze and later exploding.

Rather than send more firefighters into the raging mob, officials determined there was no imminent danger to properties in the area and held back crews from entering.

London mayor Joe Fontana said the city didn’t deserve the rampant disregard for the city and the public.

“To say I am disappointed and disgusted would be an understatement,” Fontana said.

The mayor called the police and firefighters’ efforts “valiant” in the face of the violence.

“There’s no doubt that when you hear that 800, 900, 1,000 people weren’t fighting among each other,” Fontana said. “(They) essentially directed their attack on the very people who serve our community to protect property and to protect lives.

“We are really, really lucky — we can thank our lucky stars — that nobody was killed.”

related news and events where whites start riots for fun and alcohol

“This kind of thing happens all the time, with little comment from the larger society. Since 1995 alone, there have been riots involving white college students at Colorado University in Boulder, Iowa State, Penn State, the Universities of Wisconsin at Whitewater and Oshkosh, Southern Illinois University, the University of Delaware, Michigan State, Washington State, the University of Akron and the University of New Hampshire. And for what reason did these students decide to burn, loot and destroy? Either because of the results of a football game, or because of a crackdown on underage drinking. So here I sit, patiently waiting for Charles Murray to explain to me with scientific precision what it is about white folks’ DNA that makes them riot for the sake of $1 tequila shots.”

from The Kids are All White: Riots, Pathology and the Real Meaning of Color-Blindness by Tim Wise

Young, white males

Jerry M. Lewis, professor emeritus at Kent State University and a sociologist specializing in fan violence, said the recent riot in Boston bore most of the hallmarks of the newest college fad. Lewis has found that generally today’s rioters are usually young, white males — and that they are more likely to riot when their team wins, not when it loses.

“A small portion of young, white males is choosing to express their fandom in violent ways,” he said, noting that the violence usually lasts a matter of hours.

That stands in stark contrast to American riots of years past that usually lasted several days and typically concerned politics or social justice.

These days, college student-rioters usually have enough alcohol in their systems to overcome their inhibitions, but not so much that they are falling-down drunk, Lewis said.

and the recent Penn State riots were also made up of a bunch of  privileged white males rioting over the firing of a football coach who failed to contact police over allegations of child abuse. This is the same poor excuse of a University that did nothing when Black Students facing death threats.
