Louisville woman accused of assaulting, robbing disabled man after he jokes that he doesn’t believe in God

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A woman was arrested at the Hall of Justice in downtown Louisville Tuesday afternoon, months after police say she assaulted and robbed a man after he joked that he did not believe in God.

According to an arrest warrant, the incident took place on Oct. 20.

Police say that 49-year-old Laura Reid was visiting a disabled man in his home. At one point, police say, Reid asked the victim if he believed in God, and he jokingly replied that he did not.

According to an arrest warrant, Reid became angry with his response, so she picked up his metal cane and began beating him on the head and body, hitting him so hard that the cane broke.

Police say the victim was unable to leave his home because of his disability, and Reid stayed there for three hours after the assault. When she finally left, she allegedly took the man’s cell phone, keys, $50 cash and a wallet containing credit cards.

Police say the man eventually crawled to a nearby gas station, where police and EMS were called. The man was taken to St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, where he was treated for injuries he sustained, including a concussion, a broken arm, multiple bruises, as well as cuts and abrasions.

The victim was eventually able to cancel his credit cards — and identify Reid, who was known to him, according to police.

A warrant was issued for Reid’s arrest on Thursday, Oct. 29. She was arrested by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the Hall of Justice. She is charged with second degree assault, second degree robbery, and first degree unlawful imprisonment.

How The Viral Hashtag #WasteHisTime2016 Will Spectacularly Backfire On Women

The number one trending topic, one week into 2016, has turned out to be the charming hashtag of #WasteHisTime2016. If you’re on social media it’s more or less a given that you’re wasting your time, but it appears the lady philosophers of Facebook have decided to take the next step in bringing horrible men seeking companionship or sex to heel by…wasting their time.  Apparently the motive for this wonderful social innovation is “to get back at fuckboys” (i.e. for women to treat men the way they’ve apparently been treated when strung along for a while by a guy).

Le sigh. Not a sigh of exasperation, mind you — rather, a contented sigh from all of us here at Return of Kings, if not manosphere sites generally. This hashtag is likely to bring even more men to our cause. Why? In brief, the Law of Unintended Consequences. But let’s break it down for the ladies into five simple insights:

1. If he’s a player, you’re not his only partner

If you’re dealing with a “fuckboy” or, in more technical terms, a player, you should understand that he’s not just into you. He’s not so fixated on the prospect of sex with you that you’re the only one he’s trying to (or having) sex with. Odds are on that there’s any number of women he’s interacting with similarly in the hopes of getting into their pants.

Little sister @Ellsafriqa, above, suggesting that her victim is not the only one she’s contacting, gets this because that’s the exact behaviour she’s modelling. She just hasn’t thought through what that behaviour means. The reality is that while you think you’re causing the player a major inconvenience or a broken heart, you’ve at best caused him to lose a few text messages when he’s going after—and banging—other women than you.

2. A player doesn’t care if he doesn’t get to fuck you

This is partially a consequence of you not being the only girl he’s fucking, but the sort of men you are getting annoyed with usually have what we call an abundance mentality. The attitude is similar to that taught to good salesmen: you don’t care about, or indeed you enjoy, the 10, 20, 30, or even 99 times you didn’t get laid because each failure gets you closer to a bang.

That being so, the sort of “fuckboy” you’re pissed at isn’t affected if you waste his time. He simply moves on to the next prospect. So: who are you inconveniencing, if not players? Read on.

3. The guy you’re deceiving is unlikely to be a player

The majority of Western men have been conditioned by thirty to forty years of feminist browbeatings not to escalate relationships with women — or if they do, to escalate it timidly and ineptly. Men have been screamed at over twelve years of their public school educations that they’re all rapists and exploit women by their very existence. And they’ve been given contradictory if not flat-out wrong information about how a woman wants them to behave that does not match up with how she acts.

They are conditioned to not take the relationship further because they’ve been frightened into incompetence. Simply put, most of the good men orbiting you on social media have no idea how to seduce you or even to escalate their relationship without making you feel uncomfortable in the process.

Never doubt there is an art to seduction, an art we teach here — but it’s hard to master that art or submit to it when you’ve been screamed at for decades (and still are) by feminist idiots that all sex is rape, the Ars Amatoria is Mein Kampf, and a relationship is more like an MMA bout than a tango.

The point being: the next guy you treat this way is not likely to be a fuckboy. He will much more likely be a guy crippled by years of indoctrination that he’s a sexual predator, consequently insecure about his interactions with you, and often unsure of himself or his masculinity. But worst of all – for you ladies – he’s still going to be a better prospect for a relationship than the player you’re trying to hurt will ever be.

4. If he’s not a player, you’re likely to hurt him

Despite what feminists will tell you, men are not, in fact, emotionless. The sort of man willing to put in the time to talk to you for weeks or months without escalating anything is often the sort of man who likes you and is praying that that somewhere in your solipsistic brain you’ll figure that out and maybe give him a chance to make you come. Or did you think all those likes and tweets of support were because he wanted to be nothing more than your friend?

When you fuck him over like that, he’s not likely to empathize with your rationalization that it’s justified because it was in payback to Chad Thundercock. What he will perceive is that you, a woman—supposedly the kinder sex—chose to coldly lead him on for weeks or months. And you didn’t even do it to spite him, you did it to spite a guy who fucked you and left you.

This is doubly humiliating for such a man, because not only are you rejecting him, you’re doing it because you can’t get over the guy who rejected you.

5. When you do, he’s going to look for a solution

This is how you send that man to us. For all the attempts the education system makes to drug it out of them, men are solution-oriented. As a group we try to fix shit when it’s not working. The man you do this to won’t ask you how (he still has some pride, after all). When he gets this sort of stunt pulled on him, he’s going to turn to Google. He’s going to punch in search phrases like: “How can I succeed with women?” or “Why is she mean to me?” or “How to pick up girls?” or “Why do women behave like they do?”

That’s when he finds us, ladies. That’s when he learns the difference between what women say and what they do. That’s when he learns there’s a lot more to life than just a relationship with you. That’s when he learns the art of seduction. That’s when he accepts the principles of neomasculinity.

And that’s when he learns to treat low-quality women the same way they once treated him.

Japanese ministers urge calm over China’s stock plunge

Japanese cabinet ministers say a recent plunge in Japanese stocks is mainly caused by concerns about a slowdown in the Chinese economy.

The stock selloff in Japanese and other markets is “largely influenced by the effects of the Chinese market,” where stocks have been nosediving, Finance Minister Taro Aso told a press conference late Friday.

But he advised people to remain calm, saying the Japanese economy’s fundamentals are “not so bad.”

Economic and Fiscal Policy Minister Akira Amari pinned the recent fall in Japanese stocks mainly on “external factors,” including “circuit breaker” trading halts in Shanghai stocks and intensifying political turmoil in the Middle East.

With such factors having driven stocks down, “we have to put more efforts into steadily expanding domestic demand and getting the virtuous cycle of the economy to work,” Amari said.

Motoo Hayashi, the minister of economy, trade and industry, said he will pay close attention to how the Japanese economy could be affected by the slowdown in China and the recent global stock market rout.

“It is possible” that the deteriorating Chinese economy and global stock selloffs could affect the Japanese economy “if we take into account their impact on financial markets, trade and investment,” Hayashi told reporters.

Feminist Tumblr Syndrome

Posted on | January 9, 2016 | 0 Comments

Kylo Ren is the name of the villain in the latest Star Wars movie. You may wonder, “What does that have to do with feminism?” Honestly, I don’t know, but Lis is a feminist Tumblr blogger:

I’m a 20 year old dfab white demigirl living in the United States with my parents. Currently, I’m in college and am looking for a job. I enjoy a lot of things and have a lot of friends, and talk a lot about video games and am very opinionated. I’m bisexual, and living in a very hostile environment for a person such as myself so I use tumblr as an outlet for various frustrations I feel because of that.

Got that? OK, so now you may be ready for this from Lis:

Kylo Ren, cishet white male, 30. I hope I offend you. Try and argue with me, your ignorant anger is the reason I get up in the morning. Triggered yet?

It is perhaps necessary, for readers not familiar with Third Wave feminist jargon, for me to explain that “dfab” means designated female at birth — biologically, she’s female — and “demigirl” is “a gender identity describing someone who partially, but not wholly, identifies as” female. Whenever I encounter bizarre jargon terms like this (which are very common inFeminist Tumblr) my first impulse is alway to wonder, “Has she consulted an endocrinologist?”

This is not merely sarcasm. Because I intend to include a chapter onFeminist Tumblr in the second edition of Sex Trouble, I’ve plowed through enough of these blog profiles that various patterns and clusters of symptoms have become apparent to me. “Feminist Tumblr Syndrome” typically involves a combination of mental illness and abnormal sexuality. There may be feminists who are both (a) sane and (b) heterosexual, but none of those women are running Tumblr blogs.

These women are a non-random set — there is a pattern, as I say — and in many cases, the Feminist Tumblr blogger will describe herself in ways that seem symptomatic of endocrine disorders. I find myself wondering, “Has your doctor checked your thyroid function? Do you have any problems with your metabolism? What about your hormone levels? Is there some kind of underlying gynecological problem? An undetected cyst somewhere? Could you maybe ask the doctor to run an MRI?”

It is difficult to believe that an entirely healthy 20-year-old would be spending all her time on Tumblr, describing herself as a bisexual “dfab white demigirl,” claiming she is the victim of a “hostile environment” andranting about Star Wars characters.

Crazy is as crazy does, I guess, and the fact that I consider these weirdos on Feminist Tumblr to be a subject for journalistic research may not say much for my own mental health. Yet if “the personal is political,” as Carol Hanisch says, we cannot understand feminism without examining the demography of the movement’s rank-and-file, and in the 21st century, one way to do this is by examining the movement’s online presence in free-for-all venues like Tumblr. And let me point out something you may not have noticed: Lis’s denunciation of Kylo Ren (which got nearly 12,000notes on Tumblr) labeled him a “cishet white male.”

OK, what is “cishet”? This jargon term combines the prefix cis– (which is the opposite of trans-) and “het” which is short for heterosexual, so that “cishet” just means a man who is sexually and biologically normal, andFeminist Tumblr demonizes “cishet white males” as the Worst Thing Any Human Could Possibly Be.

Young feminists evidently believe it is wrong to be male, wrong to be white, and wrong to be heterosexual. The rhetoric of the feminist movement, day in and day out, looks very much like hate propagandaagainst anyone who fits the category of “cishet white males,” and yet nobody ever seems to question this type of categorical hatred.

To understand this hatred, perhaps it might help to take a look at the feminist “humor” of The White Dad Magazine

Once we understand feminism as organized irrationality — the political mobilization of mentally ill women — we can recognize their rhetoric assymptoms and their ideology as a disease.

The Man Hating Feminazi Guardian considers abandoning multimillion-pound events shed amid cost cuts

the man hating feminazi and female rapist supporting Guardian Newspaper is losing readers, money, advertising revenue and circulation.

The Guardian is considering abandoning multimillion-pound plans to open a large events space in a listed former train shed opposite its King’s Cross offices over fears the project could become a white elephant.

The Telegraph has learnt that in December, the newspaper asked property developer Argent, which owns the Midlands Goods Shed, for a moratorium on work at the building to allow it to review options including handing back the keys.

It is understood Argent agreed to a delay of 10 weeks, allowing Guardian Media Group’s recently appointed chief executive David Pemsel, and the new editor of the Guardian, Kath Viner, to consider scrapping major spending planned by their predecessors.

They could also opt to scale back the plans with less ambitious design or seek new commercial partners in the venture to help support the running costs of the 30,000 sq ft building, according to company sources. The project was originally scheduled to open its doors in September 2016.

Final decisions on the project are not expected for at least a month, as the Guardian conducts a broad review of its costs that is expected to lead to job cuts in all departments including editorial. Redundancy proposals are also due to be made within weeks.

The Guardian is believed to be heading for an annual loss of more than £40m as it spends heavily to expand online in the United States and Australia. At the same time its domestic print newspaper faces the sharp decline in advertising that has hit the newspaper industry in the last year.

While it now sells fewer than 166,000 copies per day, the print newspaper remains the Guardian’s main source of profit.

Plans for the Midland Goods Shed, as what the newspaper described at the time as “an open amphitheatre for festivals, acoustic gigs and debate, as well as including an intimate restaurant with a changing programme of chefs in residence, an armchair cinema, a 3D printing and fabrication lab”, were developed in 2014 as a physical hub for the newspaper’s online membership scheme. It aims to encourage regular readers to pay up to £600 annually, without charging a subscription to read articles.

Alan Rusbridger, the Guardian’s editor at the time, claimed the scheme would produce profits of £10m per year from events and classes. It is understood that only the largest events hosting more than 800 have produced significant returns.

The Midland Goods Shed is planned to have a capacity of less than 800, which a source said had stoked concerns that it could prove to be a financial burden rather than a new source of profits. Although no decision has been taken, handing back the keys could save £6m per year, another source said.

The development is at a crucial stage, with the shell of the building complete and waiting for the Guardian to fit it out and move in.

Guardian Media Group declined to comment.

Toronto Imam: Muslims should hire only Muslims; do business only with Muslims

Shaykh Said Rageah (الشيخ سعيد راجح) was born in Somalia and in the late 80sn moved to North America. Rageah has a Bachelor’s in Islamic studies and a Masters in Shari’ah and he has had several posts over the years, including: founder of Masjid Huda in Montreal and Masjid Aya in Maryland, advisor for Muslim Youth magazine, and member in the Aqsa Association.

He is also the founder of both Muslim Magazine and Al Aqsa Association, and served as the Chaplain at both the University of Calgary and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). He served as anImam at the Abu Hurairah Mosque in Toronto, the Chairman for the Journey of Faith Conference and as an instructor for the AlMaghrib Institute.

In a sermon delivered at Abu Hurairah Centre in Toronto (the video was uploaded to YouTube on February 8, 2009), Imam Rageah called on Canadian Muslims to unite and translate their demography into a political and economic power that is necessary to make the government allow Muslims to implement the Islamic Law (Sharia) in their communities and to change the foreign policy.

Rageah spoke in favour of following the example of the Sikh neighbourhood in Edmonton, Alberta, by bringing the Muslim community to live together in one area in which the authorities will not be able to make any decision without the approval of the Muslims.

He urges Muslims to hire only Muslim workers, to buy products or services only from Muslim-owned businesses and to avoid advertising with media outlets owned by kafir, meaning unbeliever or infidel. In this way, he maintained, Canadian Muslims can strengthen themselves and live according to Islam.

The following is a transcript of segments from Rageah’s sermon:

“With four, five [hundred] thousand Muslims you can create the most powerful lobby in Canada… with that number of Muslims you can create one of the strongest Muslim business in Toronto…

“If you just put our resources, if we put our resources together, if we can work together as an Ummah [Muslim nation] we can change a lot…

“As Muslims, we are scattered all over the city. You have people living in Brampton, you have people living in Mississauga, you have people living in Whitby, you have people living in Richmond Hill. Imagine if we all get together in one area.

In the City of Edmonton, the Sikh, Sikh, they live in one neighbourhood and nothing can be changed or done without their approval. We here we may as well benefit from the system that they have here.

“What can you do with unity? A lot. You can change a lot. You can change the foreign policy of this country. You can change how the Muslims think. You can even when need help, when you need help you call Muslim for your need you will help the Muslim community…

“Brothers in the masjid [Mosque] right now, they are coming up with the magazine or newspaper called Ummah Times. What Ummah Times is that? Ummah Times is advertising all your businesses all the Muslim businesses [are] Ummah.

“All you need to do – I will never advertise with a kafir[unbeliever, infidel], there you go.

“I hear some advertisements giving to 680 News $5,000. Before your Muslim brothers $50 and $80 or $100 we think twice before we do it.

“Unless we work together, the day we need a truck driver we know where to find truck drivers.

The day that I need a cab I should have a number of a Muslim cab it’s ok, pick me up.

When I wan to see a doctor, only Muslim doctor.

When I want to hire someone only Muslim worker.

Then we can strengthen ourselves. This is the way and this is the only way we can exist in the society, living according to Islam.

“When the Sharia [Islamic Law], when the government of Toronto, Ontario gave us a break and said: deal your internal affairs based on your Sharia [Islamic Law] we did not go and say: Those few people are Ismailis and Ahmadis, they are not even Muslims. Why would they speak on behalf of Muslims. But, we say no, we keep quiet and see and watch what happens, and then the result was that they said… we will never allow you to rule yourselves, your internal affairs based on the Shariah…

“My brothers in faith [اخوتي في الله], anything that happens in your Muslim community, in the City of Toronto, anything that can be done, five hundred thousand Muslims that is a great number, large number, you can do a lot, work together. Let’s be an Ummah [nation]

Take your children to Islamic schools.

Take your vehicle to Muslim owned business.

If you buy a vehicle make sure there is a Muslim business or car dealer that sells cars.

If you want to do anything just ask if that individual is a Muslim or not. If he is not, then look for a Muslim, because I’m sure you’ll find a Muslim. I’m sure you’ll find a Muslim in that field…

“O Allah, Raise the standing of Islam and the Muslims [اللهم اعز الاسلام والمسلمين], and humiliate the infidels and the polytheists.” [اذل الكفرة والمشركين]

Rageah visiting Sweden: refugees should spread Islam in hosting country

In his recent visit to Sweden, Rageah met with Muslim youths apparently sons and daughters of refugees from the Middle East who resettled with their families in a small Swedish village.

Rageah explained to the Muslim youths the obligation upon them to follow the teachings of Islam and also the importance of playing a leading role in introducing Islam to the local society in order to spread Islam in their new community.

The following are excerpts of Rageah’s speech (posted on YouTube on December 8, 2015):

“Why do you think Allah brought you here? Why do you think Allah brought your parents and they brought you here?

“Do you think because there was a civil war back home and they had nowhere else to go, and now all of the sudden they came to Sweden to this small village that I cannot even pronounce its name? Do you think they came here accidentally?

“No. It was designed by Almighty Allah. It was designed that you perhaps can be born and raised here, so you can carry the message of Islam to your own community, to the Swedish community, because maybe your father when he is speaking Swedish he has an accent, maybe your mother when she is speaking she has an accent. Maybe they don’t understand the culture of the people.

Perhaps Allah brought you here so you can adapt, understand, analyze, read and learn the culture of the people and then in return you come back and give them the light of Islam

“Unfortunately a lot of young ladies and a lot of young boys, or young men, they think they were brought here so they can have fun, they can listen to music, they can shovel the snow that their father never have seen before, they can make a snow man in front of their houses, they can slide down the hill. This is notthe reason.

The reason that Allah brought you here is so you can can carry the message of Islam to the people. Why? Because each one of us, Almighty Allah [said] call to the way of your Lord (ادعوا الى سبيل ربك ). So your responsibility is to call people to Allah.”

Rageah: Stephen Harper is an “enemy of Islam”

Rageah, an Imam at the Abu Hurairah Mosque in Toronto and an instructor for the AlMaghrib Institute, sees Prime Minister Harper as an enemy of Islam. The following is an excerpt (25:20-26:59) of his speech at Assalam Mosque in Ottawa in 2012 (the video was uploaded to YouTube on September 12, 2012):

If one of us was invited by the Prime Minister of this country [Stephen Harper] and he says: ‘I’ll give you a special invitation, exclusive invitation, come to my house, have dinner with me, chat with me, sit with me, talk to me, I’ll talk to you.’ I guarantee you, everyone of you will come out of that meeting raising his head with pride, so proud of himself, so pleased, you know, twitting every second: O I’m sitting with the Prime Minister [Stephen Harper], you know, you know, putting on Facebook: This is my picture with the Prime Minister [Stephen Harper], you know, and you’ll brag on that day and night. Every single moment when someone says: Peace be upon you, (السلام عليكم), O do you know I was just chatting with the Prime Minister [Stephen Harper]. When Someone says: ‘How are the children?’ ‘His house is excellent.’ Your life will be nothing but him, and he [Stephen Harper] is the enemy of Islam. He [Stephen Harper] is an enemy of Islam. I guarantee you, we go to him right now, and he is the man who said, you know, the threat of this country is Islamism. All of us would say: ‘Mister Prime Minister, can we take a picture with you?’ We are so proud of that, because it is the human nature, but Allah is telling you: ‘Stay with me every night.’ Seclusion (خلوة) with Allah we don’t care. We don’t care. The voluntary prayer during the night (قيام الليل) is a conversation (نجوة) between you and Allah, no one else.”

Rageah did not elaborate in his speech what is the Islamic ruling regarding an “enemy of Islam.” In previous speech (February 2012) at the University of Waterloo as part of the Islamic Awareness Weekorganized by the local Muslim Students Association (MSA) and partially funded by the university, Rageahimplicitly justified the death penalty for apostates and those who insult the prophets.

Imam Ahmed Qandeel, member of the supreme council of Quebec imams, explained in the weekly Friday (May 12, 2013) sermon at Alrawdah Mosque in Montreal, the Islamic ruling regarding Muslims who became enemies of Islam. The following is an excerpt of his sermon (originally in Arabic):

The second case deals with a person who fights against Allah and His messenger and joined a vile group. His verdict will not be a regular execution. His verdict will be identical to the punishment for banditry. ‘Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides.’ [Quran 5:33]. This is the difference between them. The first will be asked to repent and the second will be killed immediately without repentance or asking him to repent…”

CIJA protests planned “Pro – Intifada” event at U of T

The Jewish student organization Hillel at the University of Toronto has filed a formal complaint to the administration of the university, protesting the upcoming event in campus entitled “Palestinian Popular Resistance: Building the Student Movement.”

The planned panel on January 12 with Noura Erakat and Nada Elia is organized by the pro Palestinian GSU BDS Committee and endorsed by the group Students Against the Israeli Apartheid. The Jewish Defence League (JDL) has already announced its intention to confront the event.

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) condemned the event, explaining that “the term ‘popular resistance’ – particularly in the current context – means acts of violence against Israelis” and that “the use of this term by event organizers can reasonably be construed to endorse the current wave of Palestinian terror attacks.”

Total Palestinian Support for the Knife Terror and the Al-Quds Intifada

The so-called State of Palestine, the Palestinian Authority, the PLO, the Fatah movement and all other Palestinian organizations, fully support the Palestinian intifada which is portrayed as “popular resistance.”

The Fatah Central Committee, convened on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah. Fatah is led by Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) who also serves as president of the state of Palestine, chairman of the Palestinian Authority, and leader of the PLO.

The decisions taken by the Fatah Central Committee shed light on the Palestinian leadership’s policy toward Israel, as described in the Palestinian media and detailed below:

“The [Central] Committee discussed…the increase in severe attacks against members of our Palestinian people in the occupied state of Palestine (the West Bank, Al-Quds, and the Gaza Strip), including the field executions… The meeting began with readings of Surat Al-Fatihah in remembrance of the souls of the heroic martyrs, and it [the Central Committee] conveyed its condolences and appreciation to the families of the martyrs with hopes for the speedy recovery of the wounded, emphasizing its determination to continue to act in every way to have the prisoners freed and the bodies of the heroic martyrs returned.”

The Central Committee did not condemn the acts of violence and terror being perpetrated by Palestinians as part of the Al-Quds Intifada, which is also called the Knives Intifada. On the contrary, it characterized the foiling of terror attacks as “executions,” chose to call the perpetrators “heroes,” and promised to assist their families. The Palestinian leadership thereby gave full backing to the continuation of the terror wave against Israel.

According to the Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, between September 13, 2015 – January 2, 2016, 27 Israelis have been killed and 279 wounded – 25 of them seriously. Palestinian new wave of terrorism included 100 stabbings, 37 shootings and 22 car rammings in addition to firing rockets (from Gaza), detonating explosive charges, and many hundreds incidents of stone throwing and firebombings.

Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs added, “the current wave of terrorist attacks is part of the PA’s strategy of “popular resistance” (i.e., popular terrorism) adopted by the PA and Fatah at the Sixth Fatah conference in August 2009.”

Hotline talks to be made known to Legislature: MAC

TAIPEI–A senior mainland affairs official said Thursday that the hotline between Taiwan and mainland China will only be used to discuss “critical and confidential” issues, the key points of which will be made known to the Legislature if necessary.

Lin Chu-chia (林祖嘉), deputy minister of the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC, 陸委會), said since its inauguration on Dec. 30, 2015, the MAC-Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO, 國台辦) hotline has not been used.

The hotline was set up for discussing only urgent and critical matters, and is not supposed to be used often, Lin told a regular press briefing.

He noted that during the 30-minute talk on Dec. 30 between MAC Minister Hsia Li-yan (夏立言) and TAO Minister Zhang Zhijun (張志軍) , Hsia expressed the hope that negotiations on a trade-in-goods agreement and opening offices in each other’s territory will be concluded early.

Lin said the MAC has not set regulations on using the hotline but will record what is discussed on it. The contents of the discussion are not supposed to be made public but the main points, if necessary, will be made available to the Legislature, he added.

Both sides have agreed that Taiwan’s Straits Exchange Foundation and China’s Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits that are authorized to conduct routine affairs will set up an office in each other’s territory to facilitate their official functions.

Negotiations on this matter have now been narrowed down to office and residence security, personal safety and code of conduct for officials to be stationed in each other’s territory, Lin said.

Trade-in-goods Pact

Regarding the progress of cross-strait talks on signing a trade-in-goods pact, Deputy Economics Minister Shen Jong-chin (沈榮津) said a half-day talk was held in Beijing a day earlier to “narrow the gap” between the two sides.

“Our officials tried to reduce import tariffs on our industrial and agricultural exports to China, as expected and demanded by our business community,” Shen said.

He said Taiwan’s delegates also urged their Chinese counterparts to speed up negotiations on the merchandise trade pact since the free trade agreement between China and South Korea had taken effect early last month.

The trade-in-goods agreement is a big deal for Taiwan’s industries that must not be ignored, Shen said, adding that efforts to help them secure a better trade deal must not be suspended.

“If an agreement is reached, the government will not put it into effect until the Legislature has given it the nod. So there will not be a question of ‘jumping the line,'” he said.

Some media have reported that negotiations on the trade pact have been going on in secret so it can be signed before the Jan. 16 elections.

The Cabinet’s spokesman Sun Lih-chyun (孫立群) dismissed such reports as “non-sense.”

Canadian Imam: we welcome martyrdom; Islam “will rule the world”

Hundreds members of the Shiite Muslim community in the Greater Toronto Area demonstrated on Sunday, January 3, in front of the American Consulate in Toronto against the execution of the Shiite scholar and dissident Sheikh Baqir al-Nimr by the Saudi regime.

Blaming the US for supporting “injustice” by supplying weapons to Saudi Arabia, the political and spiritual leaders of the Toronto Shiite community condemned the “illegitimate” Saudi regime, called for the “liberation” of Saudi Arabia, Palestine and all other Arab countries controlled by “puppet” regimes.

One of the speakers was the Shiite cleric, Syed Hassan Mujtaba Rizvi, Pakistani born who grew up in Canada. In his passionate speech, Hassan Mujtaba Rizvi emphasized that the Shiites are not afraid of death, rather they wish to die and gain martyrdom in the path of Allah and for the cause of Islam.

The following is a transcript of Hassan Mujtaba Rizvi’s speech: (14:57-16:26)

“Maybe one day we will have the same status as martyrs who have given their lives for justice. We’re not afraid of dying.

“What we are afraid of is not to be able to do our duty and our justice as being ordained by Allah Glorified and Exalted be He.

“So don’t scare us with prisons. Do not scare us with death. Do not scare us that you are going to take us and deport us. Do not scare us with anything, because we are not scared of anyone, but the superpower which is Allah Glorified and Exalted be He. He is watching us and we are going to return to Him. You who want to scare us, you cannot.

“The oppressors should learn this. Learn it and google Imam Hussein. He is the one that we follow. He said that there is going to be no compromise with injustice and we are not going to compromise with any injust [sic].

If it is the martyrdom is our future, then I say to everyone of you: Let the future come! O Hussein [the grandson of Mohammad, the prophet of Islam], We are at your service. O mahdi [the prophesied messiah of Islam], We are at your service! O mahdi, We are at your service!”

In another speech at Toronto protest against the movie “Innocence of Muslims” (September 22, 2012) Hassan Mujtaba Rizvi prophesied the victory of Islam globally and the implementation of the Islamic Law (Sharia) over mankind:

“We will stand as we stood today, as we will stand in the future, for any insult that comes to the Prophet and you should know this, that this is going to continue. It will not stop, and God is our witness, we will see the day when religion of Allah will overpower all of these oppressors and justice and peace will rule the world.”

Hassan Mujtaba Rizvi discussed in one his sermons held in Houston, Texas (January 30, 2011) the question of loyalty (“affiliation” in his terminology) of Shiite Muslim believers to their country of residence and the relations between religious belief and citizenship.

Here is an excerpt of Hassan Mujtaba Rizvi’s sermon:

My affiliations are with Iran, because my affiliation with Canada would mean that if in Canada there was something for me to affiliate by, that was given to me by Allah, I should have affiliation with Canada.

But when I look towards Allah, and I see that He has affiliation with Iran, has no affiliation with Canada with America, I say: I have affiliation with Iran.

“Do I have an affiliation with the country that I was born in? No. Why Should I have affiliation with the country that I was born in? That’s a very shallow way to look at it. Like, I was born in Pakistan, so I start having affiliations because I was born there.

“I should have some standards for my affiliations, meaning I landed here, the airport that you have, I’m not sure what it is, but I landed at this terminal, because I landed at this terminal I started having affiliations with it.

“Is it a right thing for me to do? I landed in Jhelum [airport in Pakistan] so now with Jhelum, because I landed there, should I have affiliation? No. My affiliation should be based on Allah Glorified and Exalted be HE has.

“Does Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, want to see people being oppressed in the world? Does He want to see that? He doesn’t. He wants to see people acting with each other with justice. ‘We have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice’ [Koran, Surat al-Hadid, 25].”

“The purpose that we have sent the prophet is that everybody should act with each other with justice. The Law of Allah should be the deciding factor for the society to live in, and at the moment the Law of Allah Glorified and Exalted be He, is being implemented in only one country, and that is Iran. So, my affiliation is going to be automatically there. It’s not because I look like I’m from Iran.”

Hizb ut-Tahrir’s leaflet in Toronto calls for the establishment of the Caliphate

CIJnews obtained a leaflet distributed in Toronto by activists affiliated with Hizb ut-Tahrir, a radical Islamic global organization which “to revive the Islamic Ummah [nation]… to liberate it from the thoughts, systems and laws of Kufr [heresy]… [and] also aims to restore the Islamic Khilafah [Islamic] State so that the ruling by what Allah (swt) revealed returns.”

The following is the transcript of the leaflet that was handed to participants of al-Quds Day in Toronto on July 26, 2014:

Gaza Is Bleeding! Where are the Muslim armies?

“Over the past few weeks we have witnessed a ruthless assault launched by the criminal Zionist entity on Gaza. The terrorist state fired upon the civilian population of Gaza with all kinds of devastating weaponry, with women and children being the primary victims of this brutality. This savagery has also resulted in the destruction of homes, turning them into mass graves for their residents while the few survivors are met with missiles as they try to escape from the rubble. Not even mosques, hospitals or facilities for the disabled were spared from this criminal assault. This has resulted in over 140,000 residents being displaced, over 800 martyred, including at least 155 children.

“And what has been the response of the surrounding Muslim regimes?

“Absolutely pathetic! The best of them opens the border crossings for the wounded, in a sense saying: ‘if you are nearly dead then you are welcome, but if you are alive then go back to the slaughter!’ Others have promised monetary aid. Can the people of Gaza use the currency notes to deflect the bombs falling on their heads?!

“The only way to stop the slaughter is for tanks to be deployed against tanks, aircrafts against aircrafts and warships against warships: the people of Gaza need armies to defend them. Just as paper currencies will do little to safeguard the fragile bodies of our children, neither will boycotting the Zionist entity stop the slaughter. The Zionist entity is a strategic asset in the hands of the colonial powers. If it were to go bankrupt, the colonial powers would bail it out just as they bailed out the banks!

“The real solution is, therefore, to work to remove the regimes, which are the obstacles preventing the Muslim armies from performing their fard (obligation) of protecting their brothers, sisters, parents and children in the land of lsra wal Mi’raj. Allah (swt) revealed:

“And if they seek help of you for the Deen, then you must help” TMQ 8:21

“And indeed Allah (swt) will hold these armies accountable on the Day of Judgment as they could have stopped this bloodshed if they wanted!

“Consequently, we must work to replace the current regimes with a sincere leadership that will unleash the collective resources of the Ummah to liberate Palestine and end the brutal occupation. The Arab countries surrounding Palestine have sufficient force to liberate the usurped land, and end the oppression of the people – with over 2 million soldiers, spending over $100 billion on arms annually. Egypt alone has over 200 F-16 fighter planes and 450,000 soldiers.

“O Muslims! The only shield that Allah (swt) prescribed for us is the imam. Muslim narrated from Abu Hurayrah (ra) that the Prophet (saw) said:

“Indeed, the Imam is a shield, you are protected by him and fight from behind him.”

“Until this shield is in place, we will unfortunately continue to witness the slaughter and oppression of our brothers and sisters in the blessed land of Bait ul Maqdis and elsewhere. We must therefore work with all our strength to remove these treacherous regimes and replace them with the Khilafah Rashida.

Event in support of an “Islamic State” held at Ontario Mohawk College

The Canadian branch of the global movement of Hizb ut-Tahrir held on Saturday, November 28, 2015, an event at the Mohawk Residence and Conference Centre (245 Fennel Ave. West, Hamilton, Ontario) for discussing the crisis in Syria and in support of the establishment of the Islamic State – the Caliphate.

The keynote speaker was Mazin AbdulAdhim, a Canadian Sunni Muslim of Iraqi descent, who vehemently opposes the Caliphate founded by ISIS in Iraq and Syria and does not accept the authority of its self proclaim Calif Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Rather he advocates for a new Caliphate that will implement the Islamic Law word for word, extend its authority over all the Muslim lands and unite all Muslims in the world under the flag of Islam.

he following are excerpts of the speech delivered by Mazin AbdulAdhim, a prominent leader of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Canada residing in London, Ontario:

“That uprising [in Syria] started off as a fight for their children and a fight for justice and a fight to remove Bashar [Assad, President of Syria] and a fight for freedom with Islamic undertone, but because of the work of Dawah [propagating Islam] carriers in Syria reminding to the people that don’t make this into another uprising that goes back to something that the colonialists control.

“Call for what Islam tells you to call for which is Khilafa [Caliphate – The Islamic State] on the path of prophethood as promised by the Messenger of Allah [رسول الله], peace be upon him [PBUHصلى الله عليه وسلم], and that is required from us as Muslims.

“And the people of Syria accepted this very very quickly. It was amazing to watch. To see the shift in the flags. All the Syrian flags were thrown away.

The flag of the Messenger of Allah [رسول الله] was raised and anybody who carried that flag [the Syrian national flag] was looked as a traitor. The public opinion in Syria shifted so dramatically. It was almost surreal…” (11:43)

“The People of Syria, and this is something we had very little since 1924 [the fall of the Ottoman Empire – the last Caliphate], the society has risen up as a society and says we want Islam as a way of life, and the West will not have it, and this is what we are seeing.

“They [the West] are not just torturing people on individual scale, rather they torturing an entire society, an entire country in order to make them back from their Deen [religion دين] because remember, believing in Almighty Allah is not believing in doing nothing.

“Believing in Him [Allah] is believing in implementing His commands and abstaining from His prohibitions and removing those prohibitions from our societies. Implementing all of Islam, that’s is what is means to believe in Allah.

“There is not deity but Allah [لا اله الا الله] is Allah is the only source of legislation and Mohammad is the Messenger of Allah [محمد رسول الله] it means that he is the one who brought us the legislation for us to implement…” (22:15)

“These are [Arab regimes] puppets, these men do not represent us. They are working with our enemies [the West] to maintain the colonial set-up that was established after the Caliphate [the Ottoman Empire]was destroyed…” (33:47)

“We must recognize a very important point. The Messenger of Allah PBUH established the first authority for Islam in [the City of] Medina… and the hijrah [migration هجرة]… it was a symbol of the establishment of the political Authority of Islam.

“The Messenger of Allah, PBUH went from having no political authority to becoming a ruler, from having no army to having the ansar [انصار] the military protection for Islam That what the hijrah is.

“But how did he achieve it? He achieved it by spreading ideas… it [the Islamic State] is established by spreading ideas.

“If the Ummah [Muslim nation] understands, if the Ummah understands what is required of us as Muslims, what Caliphate [Islamic State] looks like, what the system of Islam looks like and how to reach the establishment of the Caliphate according to the message of Messenger of Allah PBUH, the Ummah [Muslim nation] will rise up and knows exactly what we have to do.

“That’s the cause of the whole problem. It is a lack of understanding. It is not a lack of military power. We have more military power than anyone else in the whole world.

“It is not a lack of resources or wealth. We have more wealth and more numbers… we have the youngest and strongest demographic in the world. That is not our problem. The problem is that we don’t understand our own system – the Caliphate.

“And therefore how do we support the people of Syria? We must send money and help the refugees who are coming here in every way that we can.

“We must understand that we must help and work towards the solution so it doesn’t happen anymore and doesn’t ever happen again which is we need to re-establish our shield, the Imam for the Muslims, the Caliphate… and remember there is  only one solution for this problem and one cause and that is the absence of the Caliphate…” (37:38)

Copyright bill stays stuck as lines drawn

Amy Nip

Thursday, January 07, 2016

The controversial Copyright Amendment Bill is still marking time in the Legislative Council in the face of procedural roadblocks.

Legislators resumed a second reading debate after the festive break, but it was snagged by 25 quorum counts, which accounted for four hours and 48 minutes of business time.

The meeting was adjourned at 8pm, and more of the same is expected when it resumes at 9am today.

A motion to adjourn the debate by the Labour Party’s Cyd Ho Sau-lan may also be voted on.

The debate restarted yesterday with Ma Fung- kwok of the sports, performing arts, culture and publications sector calling for the bill to be approved.

Ma said further delays risked harm to the movie, television, comics and music sectors from copyright infringement, so he did not want fellow legislators turning once again to filibusters.

As for three amendments proposed by pan-democrats, Ma said those in the sectors have reservations about them and they should not be adopted without prior consultation.

In fact, he said, professionals would prefer to see the bill dropped rather than accept the three amendments, which concern more protection for netizens under a US fair-use model and a Canadian model that exempts works by fans from copyright rules.

But then legislators went back to debating the motion to adjourn advanced by Ho before the break.

Democrat Helena Wong Pik-wan, supporting the motion, said many people still did not know how the amendment bill would impact on internet use if it was passed.

Although the administration engaged with some netizen groups during the consultation period, Wong added, there was limited public airing about the bill.

New People’s Party legislator Michael Tien Puk- sun opposed the adjournment motion and labeled it filibustering in disguise. Tien said he would support any administration move to retract the bill, but passing the motion to adjourn would give the wrong impression that this is not the right time to pass it.

Democrat Sin Chung-kai then just managed to stop an attempt by Starry Lee Wai-king of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong to cut short the debate by demanding lawmakers vote on the Ho motion.

At that time there were no pan-democrats in the chamber, but Sin rushed in and asked to speak.

It all restarts today with no firm pointers about when legislators might be able to vote on the amendment bill itself.
