On February 4, 2011, during the first months of what was dubbed the “Arab Spring”, Abdullah Hakim Quick delivered a sermon that dealt with the situation in the Arab world, analyzing its strengths and weaknesses and calling for an Islamic solution to the global challenges. He ended up his sermon with a supplicationasking Allah to humiliate the non-Muslims (polytheists) and to help the mujahideen around the world, and particularly in Palestine, Egypt and Tunisia.

The following are excerpts of Quick’s sermon:

“A type of frustration is coming amongst us; a frustration because of the potential that we have. We have over 26% of the earth’s population. We have some of the richest people on earth. We have hundreds and thousands of soldiers standing at arms. We have intellectuals, we have books, we have technology, but we’re not getting the results. Something is wrong. There is a frustration coming with the great riches there is poverty. With the large armies we’re feeling humiliated on the ground. They are not respecting us; not respecting our sacred site…”

“And finally, we need outreach. We will need to take this Deen [religion دين], take our way of life and show the people that don’t have this faith to bring Islamic solutions to real problems of twenty first century. Then the world will realize that there is a last testament amongst us. There is a solution to the environmental problem, to the economic crisis, to racism, to murder, homelessness, drug abuse, political oppression. There is a last testament that covers this. There is a last messenger who has a Sunnah [the verbally transmitted record of the teachings, deeds and sayings, silent permissions or disapprovals of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, as well as various reports about Muhammad’s companions] that covers all aspects of life. This is a critical moment in time and we pray that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He [سبحانه و تعالى],would raise up a generation that would lead the Muslim Ummah [nation أمة] in a new direction…”

[Supplication 31:39-31:56]

“O Allah Raise the standing of Islam and the Muslims, [اللهـــم أعـز الإســلـام والمسلميــــــن‏], O Allah Raise the standing of Islam and the Muslims, [اللهـــم أعـز الإســلـام والمسلميــــــن‏], O Allah Raise the standing of Islam and the Muslims, [اللهـــم أعـز الإســلـام والمسلميــــــن‏], and humiliate the polytheism and polytheists [وأذل الشرك والمشركين], and destroy the enemies of the [Islamic] religion [ودمر أعداء الدين], and help your [Muslim] slaves the, O Lord of the Worlds [وانصر عبادك يا رب العالمين]. O Allah, help the mujahideen [those who are engaged in jihad] everywhere, and especially in Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia [اللهم انصر المجاهدين في كل مكان خصوصا في فلسطين ومصر وتونس].”
