Ricky Martin being sued for plagiarism over FIFA World Cup anthem

Latin sensation Ricky Martin has been a very busy man in his professional life. The Puerto Rican pop star has announced and Australian tour and has been named as a judge for “The Voice…Mexico.” But in the midst of that, Martin finds himself in the middle of a new lawsuit. According to a report by Fox News Latino Thursday, the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer is being sued for plagiarism.

The accusations are being made by Luis Adrian Cortes Ramos, a former finalist of “Idol Puerto Rico,” who claims Martin’s “Vida” was almost identical to a song he composed and submitted. Ramos says in the lawsuit that he never got credit for the song that because theWorld Cup anthem for this year’s soccer tournament held in Brazil.

The young singer is demanding $10 million from both Martin and SonyCorporation. According to court documents, Martin and Sony participated in a public contest aimed at finding a new song to represent the FIFA World Cup. The documents said, “They stated the winning composer would be recognized and he would be given credit for his work.”
